BloomStat is proud to announce a new concept for helping children work on their social and emotional health – intergenerational pen pals!

Program Overview BloomStat invites your school to participate in a unique intergenerational program designed to integrate Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) with English Language Arts (ELA). This quarter-long pilot program aims to enhance students’ emotional growth and provide them with authentic writing experiences through exchanges with elderly individuals from senior care facilities.

Program Details

• Duration: One quarter (approximately three months)
• Frequency: Biweekly writing exchanges; students will write every two weeks, and seniors will respond in alternating weeks.
• Activities: Students will engage in reflective writing based on grade-level specific SEL prompts. Responses will be exchanged with elderly participants, creating a meaningful dialogue between generations.

Role of the School

• Participate in Writing Exchanges: Implement the SEL prompts in the classroom and manage the writing process.
• Facilitate Responses: Coordinate the collection and submission of student writings to BloomStat.
• Involve Students: Encourage students to engage thoughtfully with the prompts and respond to feedback from seniors.

• Facilitator Training: BloomStat will provide training for teachers on how to introduce the materials and prompts to students effectively.
• Guest Speaking: Our facilitator may also be available for guest speaking engagements to introduce the program and its benefits.
• Program Materials: Receive comprehensive writing packages including prompts, worksheets, and teacher guides.
